The Linen Belt
In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit. Judges 17:6
Doesn't that sound like America today? Everyone doing as they see fit without concern of what is right, moral, or even legal. Our states are filling with mayors who arbitrarily wed perverts contrary to the rule of law. It started with same-sex unions, but next it will be multiple partner unions, unions with a favorite pet, or like the French, a person already deceased. Unelected judges make rulings to suit their personal desires without any basis in the rule of law. In Massachusetts a state once proud to call on the name of the Lord -
(We, therefore, the people of Massachusetts, acknowledging, with grateful hearts, the goodness of the great Legislator of the universe, in affording us, in the course of His providence, an opportunity, deliberately and peaceably, without fraud, violence or surprise, of entering into an original, explicit, and solemn compact with each other; and of forming a new constitution of civil government, for ourselves and posterity; and devoutly imploring His direction in so interesting a design, do agree upon, ordain and establish the following Declaration of Rights, and Frame of Government, as the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.)
they are even dictating to the legislature requirements to pass laws mandating their perversions. This is in direct violation of their state constitution:
(Art IV. (Legislative) And further, full power and authority are hereby given and granted to the said general court, from time to time, to make, ordain, and establish, all manner of wholesome and reasonable orders, laws, statutes, and ordinances, directions and instructions....
Ch 3 Art V. (Judiciary) All causes of marriage, divorce, and alimony, and all appeals from the judges of probate shall be heard and determined by the governor and council, until the legislature shall, by law, make other provision.)
But that no longer matters to people who have departed from decency and reason. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 1 Timothy 4:2.
We were established as a land dedicated to the cause of the Lord Jesus Christ as outlined in our now forgotten Mayflower Compact:
"In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord, King James, by the Grace of God, of England, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, e&.
Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia; do by these presents, solemnly and mutually in the Presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid; And by Virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions and Offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the General good of the Colony; unto which we promise all due submission and obedience.
In Witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names at Cape Cod the eleventh of November, in the Reign of our Sovereign Lord, King James of England, France and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth. Anno Domini, 1620."

Unfortunately, we have allowed our zeal for the Christ to be replaced with a zeal for being "tolerant." We can no longer openly call a pervert a pervert without being called a hate-monger. Children in California are required to actively participate in islamic teachings but cannot mention the name Jesus. Some colleges have instituted mandatory classes in this brutal and hate-filled religion, but again the students cannot openly mention the name of the Creator of all things, the Author of Life. Wake up America, there is a huge difference between loving others and leading them on a decent and moral path, and being "tolerant" of others misguided ways, leading them tolerantly down the road to hell.
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Cor 6:9-11.
Before I go on, I'd like to remind you of my page so you may know Im not some self-righteous bigot who looks down on my fellow man. If you re-read that, you will see that I truly believe I am the least of all and the greatest of sinners. But by the grace of God I was washed, sanctified, and justified. This is my desire for all - intolerant yes - but loving each person for what they can become in Christ Jesus. I wouldn't have this web site if I didn't really feel this way.
When a nation departs from its Christian heritage it can expect nothing less than chastisement by the one they have rejected. Take a look at this passage from Jeremiah:
This is what the LORD said to me: "Go and buy a linen belt and put it around your waist, but do not let it touch water." So I bought a belt, as the LORD directed, and put it around my waist. Then the word of the LORD came to me a second time: "Take the belt you bought and are wearing around your waist, and go now to Perath and hide it there in a crevice in the rocks." So I went and hid it at Perath, as the LORD told me. Many days later the LORD said to me, "Go now to Perath and get the belt I told you to hide there." So I went to Perath and dug up the belt and took it from the place where I had hidden it, but now it was ruined and completely useless. Then the word of the LORD came to me: "This is what the LORD says: 'In the same way I will ruin the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem. These wicked people, who refuse to listen to my words, who follow the stubbornness of their hearts and go after other gods to serve and worship them, will be like this belt-completely useless! For as a belt is bound around a man's waist, so I bound the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to me,' declares the LORD, 'to be my people for my renown and praise and honor. But they have not listened.' "Say to them: 'This is what the LORD , the God of Israel, says: Every wineskin should be filled with wine.' And if they say to you, 'Don't we know that every wineskin should be filled with wine?' Then tell them, 'This is what the LORD says: I am going to fill with drunkenness all who live in this land, including the kings who sit on David's throne, the priests, the prophets and all those living in Jerusalem. I will smash them one against the other, fathers and sons alike, declares the LORD. I will allow no pity or mercy or compassion to keep me from destroying them.' " Jeremiah 13:1-14
America has been in the exalted position mentioned - of praise and honor - for the recent past. We have been bound to our Creator as a Shining Light on a Hill. We have received blessing upon blessing from God because of our Christian values. But that's all going to change unless we turn back to the narrow road. We are at a crossroads right now where we will either glorify our Creator and return to our spiritual heritage, or we will become like Jeremiah's linen belt - completely useless. Wake up America!!
I think this passage has another truth behind it. Think of the linen belt as what will happen to our own personal faith when we fail to return to our Holy Bible. When we read the Scriptures, we receive spiritual refreshment. However, if we put it on the shelf (where it will certainly gather dust!) and don't return to it soon and often, the Word that was in us begins to degrade. Just as Jeremiah's belt became useless when it was hidden in the crevice of the rocks, so will the moral lessons we learned degrade until they are no longer of value. This is not to say that the lessons themselves have lost value, but just as we forget the anguish of the loss of a loved one, or the joy of a pleasant experience, we also slowly forget the spiritual regeneration we received from the Holy Bible. I implore each person who reads this, to start reading your Good Book again. Open it and drink from it as it holds the very words of life itself. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12. If you've never read the bible - for crying out loud - stop reading this and go read it instead. I see people (including family) who read book after book after book after book about the Holy Bible and yet not read it. They will even read analysis of it by people who hate it. There are people who read made-up nonsense (like the Da Vinci codes) and believe it, but refuse to believe the book which has more documented history behind it than any other. No part of the Holy Bible has ever been proven false, but it is still maligned. If you have trouble understanding it, let me know and I will recommend study courses which glorify the Creator and lead you to a sound understanding of this glorious book. However, don't just go to any course without checking it first. I participated in the Disciple course offered by a Methodist church and found it less than satisfactory and containing errors. If you attend a church which doesn't open the Holy Bible and teach it as the inspired Word of God, you are wasting your faith. Do you actually believe there is a Creator who can whip together a bumble-bee in its splendor and can't convey His purposes to mankind except by making up fables and allegory? Look at the galaxies, ponder the intricacies of a tulip, or consider the irreducible complexity of a single "simple" cell which is now found to be more complex than all the cities of the Earth combined. Surely, this Creator can maintain his Word throughout the ages if he can do these things! When Napoleon asked one of his generals where proof of a God was, the general's response was for him to look at the Jews. Despite their exile and persecution, they have remained, outlasting the nations who sought to destroy them. They have been preserved to preserve his truths and through them will come their fullfillment. As I implored you before - Wake up!! Return to your senses and turn to Jesus Christ.
